Waymap announces its arrival in Brazil, bringing a route app that offers guidance in indoor, outdoor and underground environments with an accuracy of 1 to 2 metres, without the need for additional beacons. The solution was developed especially for people with visual, intellectual or mobility disabilities.
Traditional systems depend on GPS, achieving only 20 metres of accuracy in open areas and not working indoors, where people spend approximately 90% of their time. Waymap combines the “SmartStep” algorithm with a Visual Positioning System, using only the phone’s sensors and maps generated by CAD and Lidar.
The main benefits include step-level accuracy for large transport hubs, inclusion through audio routes and multilingual interfaces, scalability without costly infrastructure, and sustainability by encouraging public transport. The system already operates in the Washington D.C. metro, Singapore, Dubai and North American university campuses.
Sandra Sinicco, director of LatamScaleUP, highlights the potential in Brazilian cities, while CEO Celso Zuccollo reaffirms the commitment to universal independent mobility.
